Consciousness, Mind, Ego, and the Role of a True Guru
When the soul identifies with the mind instead of resting in its original state, the mind becomes dominant. In this condition, the mind begins to control thoughts, actions, and decisions, appearing independent and powerful.
Ego is not a separate energy. It is an impure formation of the mind, created by habits, conditioning, and false identification. Ego operates using the energy of consciousness, yet at the same time it conceals that very consciousness.
All energy that sustains the body and the universe flows through consciousness. The ultimate source of this energy is the Ultimate Consciousness, the foundation of all existence.
When the mind is directed outward, it becomes entangled in sensory pleasures and illusions. When the mind turns inward, it gradually withdraws from external distractions and begins to recognize the deeper reality of consciousness.
At different levels of awareness, consciousness expresses itself differently. Where ego dominates, consciousness remains hidden. In such states, actions are driven mainly by ego and mental habits, even though their power still comes from consciousness.
As the mind moves inward through self-awareness, reflection, and discipline, it slowly becomes purified. The soul begins to loosen its attachment to the mind. Eventually, the soul transcends the mind and returns to its original state of clarity and peace. The mind, shaped by past actions and experiences, is only a temporary covering.
The behavior of the senses depends on the direction of the mind. When the mind seeks worldly pleasure, the senses become restless and controlling. When the mind seeks inner understanding, it becomes calm, balanced, and stable.
The soul is always present, even though it does not appear directly. It is the true support of both mind and body. Without the soul, neither the mind nor the body can exist.
The brain is a physical organ, while the mind is a subtle, non-physical faculty that connects the body with consciousness.
However, understanding these deep truths is extremely difficult without the guidance of a genuine and experienced teacher. Intellectual knowledge alone is not enough to walk the spiritual path. The inner journey is subtle and experiential, and without proper guidance, one may hesitate or become confused.
A true guide does not impose beliefs or demand dependence. Instead, a true guide helps awaken awareness, clarity, and confidence within the seeker. For this reason, across cultures and spiritual traditions, guidance from an authentic teacher has been considered essential—not as authority, but as support and direction on the inner path.
The ultimate goal of spiritual practice is the awakening of the soul and its return to the Ultimate Consciousness—the infinite source beyond name, form, and limitation.

परम चेतना, परम ज्ञान और परम सत्ता के स्वरूप हैं,
और समस्त सृष्टि के स्वामी हैं।
