Parents Are Not Property, But Responsibility | Deep Social Thought by Anand Kishore Mehta

Parents: Not Property, But Responsibility | A Deep Social Reflection

In today’s materialistic world, relationships are increasingly measured like assets—through ownership, division, and profit. Even parents, who once formed the foundation of our values and emotions, are slowly being reduced to a part of inheritance rather than responsibility.

We often see families fighting in courts over property, yet the same people hesitate when it comes to sharing the care of their aging parents. This contradiction is not just legal or financial—it reflects a deeper emotional and moral decline in society.

Inheritance can be divided. But care, respect, time, and compassion cannot be divided like property—they must be lived and shared.

When children see their parents caring for grandparents with dignity, they learn that responsibility is a value. But when they see neglect, they learn that elders are a burden.

This mindset needs to change.

Parents are not liabilities. They are not responsibilities to be managed when convenient. They are the living roots of our existence—silently nurturing us throughout life.

If we can fight for property, why can’t we stand together for care?

Real inheritance is not land or wealth. Real inheritance is values, character, and the way we treat those who once held our hand when we could not stand.

Before dividing assets, we must learn to share responsibility.

Because a society that forgets its parents, eventually forgets its foundation.

Adopt a positive outlook: 🙏 Surrender your trust at the feet of the Supreme Creator.

True Fortune Lies in Gratitude, Not in Possessions
